James Donald "Jim" Root[1] (born October 2, 1971),[2][3] also known by his number #4, is an American musician known for being the guitarist for the metal band Slipknot, and for the rock band Stone Sour. He shares lead and rhythm guitar duties in both bands. He was the last member to join the current line-up of Slipknot, in January 1999. James Root has performed in bands such as Atomic Opera, Deadfront and Stone Sour; the latter which he joined in 1995, and returned to along with vocalist Corey Taylor, during its revival in 2002. Prior to joining Slipknot, he worked as a screenprinter, waiter, and busboy. Root joined the band in January 1999, replacing their original guitarist, Josh Brainard, who left the band during the recording of their self-titled album, reportedly after having fulfilled his recording duties. In fact, the only two songs Root recorded during the album's sessions were "Purity" and "Me Inside", the former being featured on the short-lived first pressing of Slipknot as well as the 10th Anniversary Edition, and the latter being its replacement. Despite this, the song has become a staple for most of the band's live performances. Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor invited Root to join the band based on Taylor's past experiences working with him in Stone Sour. Although filling in the spot of rhythm guitar in 1999, Root has written lead guitar parts for Slipknot's later albums particularly on All Hope is Gone. Root typically performs on lead guitar in Stone Sour, although he sometimes plays rhythm instead. He has spoken of both bands' guitar style as being twin guitar: "In both bands, I fulfill both roles. In Slipknot, Mick [Thomson] has some solos, and in Stone Sour, Josh [Rand] has some solos."[4] During the recording of Stone Sour's Audio Secrecy, he and Rand recorded their parts simultaneously.[5]Jim Root of Slipknot performing at the Allstate Arena in 2009Outside Slipknot and Stone Sour, Root has appeared on Slipknot turntablist Sid Wilson's DJ Starscream album The New Leader and John 5's The Devil Knows My Name, for the song "Black Widow of La Porte", and also appeared on the Roadrunner United project, performing the solo and harmony guitars on "Tired 'N Lonely" from the project's album The All-Star Sessions. He also appeared on Jonathan Davis and the SFA´s cover of Lil Wayne´s "Got Money". In July 2007, Fender released a Jim Root Signature Fender Telecaster guitar. This Telecaster model is available in flat black with a white pickguard and maple neck and fingerboard, or in flat white with a black pickguard, maple neck and ebony fingerboard. Both models feature mahogany bodies, 22 jumbo frets, a single volume control with no tone control, black hardware, and EMG humbuckers (EMG 81 in the bridge and EMG 60 in the neck). In 2010 a signature stratocaster was issued, with specs similar to his telecasters. They are available in black and white finishes. This guitar has also been used live on shows during 2009.[6] Prior to his endorsment deal with Fender, Root had been seen using PRS, Jackson, Charvel, and Maverick electric guitars and Martin acoustic guitars as well as a wide range of effect pedals and amplifers. In a 2009 performance for Eurockeennes, Jim used a Gibson Flying V.[7][8] In January 2010, a Jim Root Signature Fender Stratocaster was unveiled on the Fender website, similar to the one he has been seen using on stage, as of March 2009.[9] In 2012, Orange announced a new signature Tiny Terror amp based on their Rockerverb 100, Root's main amp, called the #4.

Sidney George Wilson (born January 20, 1978) also known as Ratboy or DJ Sid, #0 (or 0), is an American disc jockey known as the turntablist of the Grammy Award winning band Slipknot. He is the youngest member of the band. Sid Wilson was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. He performs in the American band Slipknot, and also tours as DJ Starscream, a name which is derived from the Transformers character of the same name. He is a fan of the Transformers franchise, and has Transformer tattoos. Musically within Slipknot, Wilson contributes scratching and background noises. He is also considered by many to have been the worst behaved member of the band, especially during their early tours (i.e. lighting self on fire, jumping off balconies onto the audience).Outside Slipknot, Wilson has made a following in Japan as a jungle musician, under the pseudonym DJ Starscream, and is currently signed to the Japanese record label N2O Records.[1] He collaborated with The Mad Capsule Markets vocalist Hiroshi Kyono on a song called "HAKAI (Deathtroy)" released on The Songs for Death Note the movie~the Last name Tribute~, a tribute album dedicated to the live action movie for the second Death Note film.[2] A remix of the track also appeared on the Wagdug Futuristic Unity mini-album Nu Riot and 2008 album Hakai.[3]As of August 2010, he is touring with his solo band SID. He is the lead vocalist of the band.[4] Wilson went on tour with his solo band, his last tour date was on September 5, 2010 at a music venue called Another Hole In The Wall, located in Steger, Illinois. He stated, "This is the best stop on the tour, I loved the crowd reaction. It really made me feel like I got back to my roots." He also said that he will be touring with his solo project for a year or two. The debut album "SID" will be released on September 13, 2011 for digital download. The masks Sid wore on the self titled album is inspired by a gas mask. The one for the Iowa CD is a mix of a skull and a gas mask. The mask he wore for Vol 3: The Subliminal Verses was the first one that wasn't inspired by a gas mask. This one was a skull mask. On live shows he came on stage wearing the mask of a random man. Before the show started he would pull the skin off the mask, revealing the skull, which was his actual mask. Also new was that he had long hair, which made his appearance totally different. The mask for the All Hope Is Gone album is inspired by a robot. A cool feature about this mask is that he can control the eyebrows of this mask, so he can make an expression with his mask. After the tour of All Hope Is Gone the band decided to go back to the masks and the jumpsuits of the self entitled album, probably to remember Paul Gray, the bass player who passed away.
Craig '133' Jones also known as 133 (or 133 mHz), The Silent One, or by his number #5, is an American musician, best known as the sampler and keyboardist of the band Slipknot. Jones was born in Des Moines, Iowa. He previously played in various local extreme metal bands, including Modifidious, before joining Slipknot in February 1996. He was the replacement for the band's original guitarist, Donnie Steele,[1] who left during the recording of their first songs, put together into a demo called Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. which the band themselves have stated is not an album, but a demo. Because the band was almost completed with the demo, he did not contribute to it, but he did receive credit for its sleeve concept and graphics in the liner notes. Before the year was over, Jones had been replaced by guitarist Mick Thomson, and he began to assume his role as the band's sampler and keyboardist.[2]Jones is the only member of the band who is not interviewed completely unmasked on Voliminal: Inside the Nine. While he does not wear a mask during the interview, his face remains pixelated. He speaks for two seconds at the start of their video Welcome to Our Neighborhood, where he says "133, number 5, sampling". He also speaks during the member introduction on the Ozzfest 1999 documentary called We Sold Our Soul for Rock 'n' Roll, where he says "Craig, number 5, sampling". Jones once suffered from whiplash after an extended case of powerful headbanging. Jones rarely speaks to the media, but did do an interview with Cakewalk.[3] On Nine: The Making of All Hope Is Gone, the DVD that comes with the special edition of All Hope Is Gone, Craig is the only member of the band to have his face censored while everyone else appears with their face clear and uncensored.
Joey Jordison is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer. He's best known for his work as the drummer for the nu metal band Slipknot. He grew up in Waukee, Iowa with his parents and two sisters, and was given his first drum kit at the age of 8. Joey Jordison was born on April 26, 1975 in Des Moines, Iowa. He performed in several bands until joining in the summer of 1995 the group The Pale Ones, which would later change their name to Slipknot. They changed their band's name to Slipknot because their first album was named Slipknot, and they probably thought that Slipknot would be a pretty neat name for a heavy metal band. With Slipknot, Joey Jordison has performed on four studio albums, and produced the live 9.0: Live. He is also the lead guitarist for the horror punk band Murderdolls. Outside the majority of his projects, Joey Jordison has performed with other heavy metal groups such as Rob Zombie, Metallica, Korn, Ministry Otep and Satyricon. He is also known for his session work, which includes performances on many albums for many different artists. Joey Jordison used several drum brands including Pearl and ddrum. Joey Jordison is known as: Joey Jordison, Nathan Jonas Jordison, which is his full name, #1 of Slipknot, and Superball. Joey Jordison is 36 years old and has been with the American heavy metal band Slipknot for quite some time now. It's been 17 years in total. Joey Jordison plays the following instruments: Drums, percussions, guitar, bass, piano, violin, theremin, synthesizer, and the sampler or just sampler. He's also sang in some of the songs that Slipknot has made in the past. Joey Jordison grew up in a rural area outside of Waukee where he used to play basketball on the street in front of his house. He embraced music at an early age, which he attributed to the influence of his parents: "they always sat me down in front of the radio, rather than the TV." Joey Jordison started his first band in elementary school. Now that's a young age to start an actual band at, yet that's really awesome. At a young age, Joey Jordison's parents divorced; he and his two younger sisters stayed with their mother. His mother remarried and set up a funeral parlor where Joey Jordison would occasionally help. He has stated he felt a sudden responsibility to be the man of the house, and this responsibility turned him odious in which he played drums. He later described them as "total speed-metal thrash". The band helped Joey Jordison break new ground, playing for live crowds in support of local bands including Atomic Opera, which featured Jim Root, and Heads On The Wall, which featured Shawn Crahan, which is one of two members that created the American heavy metal band, Slipknot along with Paul Gray. After a multitude of line-up changes including the presence of Craig Jones and Josh Brainard, who would later appear in Slipknot, the band released two demos in 1993: Visceral and Mud Fuchia. After leaving school, Joey Jordison was hired by a local music store called Musicland. In March of 1994, after a recommendation from his new friend, he got the job at a Sinclair garage in Urbandale. Joey Jordison worked the night shift, which he preferred, as it left his weekends free and allowed him to spend time with his friends and listen to music while working. In early 1995, Modifidious disbanded because of a shift in interest from thrash metal to death metal in America. Following this Joey Jordison joined a local banned called The Rejects as a guitarist, with whom he only played a couple of shows. Joey Jordison was also involved in a band with Paul Gray, who was one of two of the original members of Slipknot that formed the band along with Shawn Crahan. That was formed mostly as a joke called Anal Blast. Paul Gray attempted to recruit him for another band, Body Pit, but he declined the invitation to remain in The Rejects. In 2001, Joey Jordison worked on a remix of "The Fight Song" by Marilyn Manson. He also appeared in the music video for Marilyn Manson's cover of "Tainted Love." Later in the year, Marilyn Manson revealed that Joey Jordison had been working with him on his new album called The Golden Age of Grotesque.
Mick Thomson is the lead guitarist and #7 in the American heavy metal band, Slipknot. He was born on November 3, 1973. He's been a member of the nine-piece band Slipknot for a while now. I know it may seem strange, but Mick Thomson has a fascination with serial killers. His previous job was teaching guitar lessons at Ye Olde Guitar Shop. He hasn't taught people how to play the guitar since 1999 though. That's because he's been a member of Slipknot for quite some time now, and he's definitely been one of their greatest members of all time. Before Slipknot wore coveralls, Mick Thomson dressed up as Little Bo Peep once. Many fans believe that previous Slipknot member Greg Welts was indeed Mick Thomson but with a different mask, however that has been proven to be untrue. I'm guessing that the rest of the Slipknot members told the whole story of that. Mick Thomson has recently left B.C. Rich and is once again using Ibanez. His current Ibanez guitar has the word Seven in the fret inlays. It's equipped with EMG 60 and 81 pickups and factory tuned to Mick's preference of drop B tuning. His new signature model for 2007 does not feature the "seven" inlay although the word "seven" is prominent on the truss rod cover. Before leaving B.C. Rich, his guitar had the word hate in capitalized letters on the 2-5 frets. Mick Thomson has the word "seven" tattooed on his left arm, which is his number in Slipknot. He's the oldest of the rest of the siblings that are in his family. There are 3 other siblings that are in his family. He had two brothers and one sister. Mick Thomson likes cats and has two of his own. He recently toured doing a guitar workshop on his own. Mick Thomson would like to branch out into other genres in the future, such as jazz. In the Volominal DVD Mick Thomson said he is "a big fan of masturbating. It's therapeutic and keeps the body count low." That's just another random fact of Mick Thomson, which is kind of filthy and disgusting to put on a blog to me, but oh well. Originally, Mick Thomson donned a Jason-style hockey mask and painted a dark pea green type of color onto the mask. This can be seen on the cover of their self titled major label debut, "Slipknot". That was shortly after Mick Thomson wore a dark silver leather mask comprised of separate pieces bound with metal rivets, with a nose opening cutout and vertical slats for his mouth. For Volume 3, he switched to a molded latex mask based on the previous design, which had some updated features added to it.
